Head Coach Jerry Nikkel

Jerry Nikkel is entering his third season as head women's basketball coach at Central College and his fifth on the Dutch staff.

Nikkel was previously the highly successful head boys’ basketball coach at Marshalltown High School. Nikkel returned to Pella in 2004 and joined the Dutch staff in 2005.

A Central College graduate, Nikkel racked up a 439-190 record in 29 years as a high school head basketball coach. He was at Marshalltown for 10 years, guiding the Bobcats to four state tournament appearances in six years, including 2004. His club finished third in the state in 1999.

Prior to that, Nikkel was the head coach at Pella Christian High School for 20 seasons, winning state championships with the Eagles in 1990, 1992 and 1993.

Nikkel was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association's basketball hall of fame.

In two seasons at Central, the Dutch are 10-40.

He also was a head girls’ softball coach for 19 years, including 10 at Marshalltown. He piloted Pella Christian to state tourney berths in 1989 and 1990. In 2007 he became head softball coach at Knoxville High School. He posted a 475-352 career mark.
